Ok so I'm going to post this ride on AZfixed because I've been riding it for the last month and it's a really good ride and there are some people on this website who are interested in it.

Things you should know about the TRIBE ride.
    1. you will encounter some pretty serious triathletes and roadies combined but they are pretty nice people so don't be too scared.
    2. it's a social 'no-drop' ride that is directed by the owner of TRIBE.
    3. the front pack averages 20+ miles per hour (that's pretty fast) for about 25 miles.
    4. proper group road etiquette is required, 'i.e. no running red lights and holding a steady line.'

I have rode this ride fixed before (with a front brake) but I couldn't hold on to the front group and I really gave it all I had at the time so I mostly do it on a geared road bike to keep up (although I still get dropped by the fast guys).

If you decide to show up please remember this is a ride put on by a local business (TRIBE multisport) and it's not an AZfixed ride so please respect the rules of the ride and everyone around you. Most importantly bring a positive attitude. So cold in the T.

I think i'll be doing this every week too. I like this ride eventhough it's fast paced and i got dropped halfway through, but it's just more motivation to get stronger and try to keep up the next time.

Holy crap. Great ride. I am going to start doing this weekly, too. I don't think I've had as much fun on a single short ride in a while. My average speed for the whole thing was 19 mph, and I was struggling to catch up to the front pack. If it weren't for red lights, I would have been dropped.PENUSPENUSPENUSPENUSPENUSPENUSPENUSPENUSPENUSPENUS

sort of. I have done it fixed and I have seen others ride it fixed as well. Just make sure you bring your legs and don't get weirded out if someone looks at you sideways for riding a fixie.

Also I think generally when you roll up past someone with a road bike and your riding a fixed gear the roadie tends to think, 'who the hell is this dumbass,' followed by 'there is no way in hell I'm going to let this dumbass pass me.'

I've learned to accept this and even appreciate it. After all my fixed cost around 800.00 new and the carbon fiber road bikes most of those guys ride are about 5 grand. I'd be pretty pissed too if I saw someone faster than me enjoying the same pleasures I am seeking out at a fraction of the price. That and cyclists are just naturally competitive people for the most part.

usually when I sense that is happening I just sit back and ride in the draft. Who am I kidding? I'm always suckin wheel. So cold in the T.

its not a difference between a fixies thing or a roadies thing, i dont think the bike matters on the stops.. its how the ride started and how it always has been. i agree w/ having less stops for the piss ride tho.

We should continue this discussion on the PISS thread, but I agree. I think that we should stop at Circle K on the way back, if needed. Stopping on the way out is kind of silly because we've only been riding at that point for a few miles. At least for the winter we shouldn't need to stop more than once, if at all, on a fast 30 mile ride.Help Phoenix Children's Hospital!!

my new roadie is supposed to be delivered today, so if I can get it put together, get my cleats put on, I might be able to catch the second lap, otherwise I would be down to ride later (anyone interested let me know). I won't be home until like 545 or 6 though, so it's not looking promising.

Jesse, if you keep your phone on you, I might try to catch the second lap.
