   After much deliberation and discussion i have decided that AZFixed will have a film contest/festival next year. I am announcing the approx dates well in advance so everyone has an opportunity to participate if they desire. I had considered doing an alleycat or rollerwars and decided no matter what race event we threw, there would be people that felt left out. The event will be pretty straightforward: Anyone can submit a video as long as it is less than 9 minutes and can be categorized into one of these four genres:
   Fixed gear. This could be tricks, you and your crew mashing, bar mounted footage of your last alleycat, polo tournament, anything fixed gear related.
   Cycling Tricks: BMX, Trials, fixed gear, nose stops on your beach cruiser?
   AZ Cycling: Footage of you at a 24 hour mountain bike race? Winning a crit? Riding your roadie in the rain all dramatic like? Videos that fit in the first two could still be entered here as a second entry.
   and lastly, the artsy category; Bike life: Entries will be judged on how well they portray the theme; "Bike life" They could be funny, dramatic, staged, biographical, you name it.
   
   Video entries will be $25 fee for each video (submit as many as you like)
   
   The awards will be at MADCAP theaters on Mill ave. Black tie, red carpet, the whole nine yards. I have lined up a few cycling industry representatives, for judges and plan to ask a few board members (unless they plan on submitting videos) to sit in as well.
   The event website will be up soon with all the details. The prizes will be awards as well as considerable cash prizes and good stuff from the good people that support the community. The deadline for submitting is April 15, 2010 Same day taxes are due so it shouldn't be hard to remember.
   
   I was struck with a number of thoughts after attending the funeral for Mike Gannon (user Brewkakke) earlier this year, firstly: The community of cycling that has grown around AZFixed is more than a bunch of people with a similar hobby. Its a collection of friends that in some cases is as close to family as some people enjoy. We are all only as good as what we give away to those who need it, whether that is our time, efforts, support, creative ideas, or hard earned money. The film festival will be in memory of Mike Gannon and benefiting a charity group that reaches out to people in need. I will be asking and looking for volunteers to help with the process.
   
   I cant wait to see some of this footage. I will see you all on the red carpet.

   Great heads up! I have no camera or editing experience, but a possible idea would be a montage of all the AZF rides we do - From the Monday ladies ride (with ladies in the footage!), to Tuesday T&A and SMUTS, Wednesday PISS, Thursday LUX.
   
   

   I will be asking and looking for volunteers to help with the process.

    i really like the azfixed rides montage. it would be relatively simple to film the rides via scooter (like mash for lack of a better example) or from the back of a truck if need be.
    Also, how bout a fine art setup (paintings,drawings, mixed media) that has a cycling theme to it. i know I have a couple cycling pieces in pen, paint, and pencil. this would be doubly cool coinciding with the bikesaviours' latest art program

    Yep, people need to keep coming out for Bike!Art! and it would be great to get stuff together for a show. In the long run, TBAG/Bike Saviours are working on organizing a bike-art-themed silent auction, just so you know...this is probably a little too soon for the auction, but maybe not??KEEP TEMPE HOT! (and feed Trifle to the Streetkings)
