I know there are a fair number of you here that go to asu, so i figured id toss this up real quick. This week we're kicking off the ASU cycling and triathlon club. We have mtb'ers, roadies, and triath;etes (naturally). members receive discounts on races (some free), as well as discounts from some of our sponsors. There is no major commitment- you're welcome to attend as many or as few races as you want. The top 7 men and 7 women triathletes get a paid trip to collegiate nationals, and we're going to field a pretty strong road team this year as well (not the measlely showing we had last year). IF youre interested check out asuctc.com for details, or whipser me. Our first meeting is next tuesday. grad students and undergrad welcome

This is NOT the same club as last year. THIS SHITS FOR REAL and we gonna be fast

fixies are definitely welcome! there are a few guys ive talked to so far who only have ss/fg bikes, and im planning on mixing it up sometimes and doing only fixed gear training rides. the only issue with fixies is that on other group rides (like tribe, etc) that we piggyback on you'll need a front brake.sorry kdub. this better?

We are having a meeting next tuesday on campus. please whisper me your email or email me @ tierney.atown@gmail.com to recieve information bout our first meeting (there is a lot more to discuss)sorry kdub. this better?

anywhere from 60-100 with most fallin about 80. its actually a pretty good deal. my dues were paid bike like 3 times over by the time i got all the races covered. we're the cheapest club on campus; cheer club is 700, lacrosse club is a ridiculous 3000.sorry kdub. this better?

    Unless it's Bike Haus hahaha

Edit: It is too bad that the school doesn't really help fund the club. Hopefully with the new leadership and as interest grows, the school will see that it is worth supporting.

Also, is there a minimum course load and/or maximum age to race collegiate? IIRC, you have to be a full-time student. My last semester will not be full time otherwise I would consider it.

cant garuntee that you'll be wearing a jersey then haha. its really not that bad- literally the team dues themselves are less than house, its just teh src fee that gets you. and it includes a jersey, which most teams dont. the problem is that asu wont do much of anything for the club till cycling or triathlon become ncaa sports.sorry kdub. this better?

hahaha well theyll pay for uofa crit (collegiate), asu crit (collegiate) and any other collegiate fees... im hoping to do lobos classic at unm, as well as any race nau puts on. if you add it up thats $100 right there. the jersey is about 65-75 cost, so even if you take advantage of nothing else thats not bad.
    edit
    * additionally, the club/ the src pays for some logistics fee such as gas, lodging, and food for big races... it adds upsorry kdub. this better?

but to answer your question: yes, there is no conflict of interest. lotsa guys race club, then just swap kits (or even just jerseys) for the collegiate race. totally separate. unless your on progressive, then youll prolly have to wear your progressive kit cause you are a pro cat4sorry kdub. this better?

Its weird that this is so small in AZ. My friends that went to UC Davis were on the team there and it was the best team around. I raced against the Cornell team, which had some pretty good riders and I know that collegiate racing is really big in the Midwest and back East. Burbs, I tentatively hate you, but good job trying to get this going. The old kids that ran it were huge douches that weren't very fast and talked too much shit they couldn't really back up.

kdub- im glad we mutually dislike eachother. everyone needs some common ground. and to be honest, i wish you were still at asu so that i could hate you while you were helping us get podium spots. i just felt shitty being on ASU last year, and didnt want it to happen again. UC Davis is BIGTIME in collegiate- ive even seen recruiting ads in some cycling magazine for their club team. The problem with the collegiate stuff is there are just so few college races for AZ. Im hoping to get some guys/ ladies out to lobos classic at nmsu this year, as well as some racing in colorado. ive made a few contacts with some officers at colorado schools, so hopefully they can put us up for the weekend.
