xlil, Are we allowed to park at Dodger stadium? Do you have any suggestions for finish line pick up or 2nd car parking? If I can't convince my ground support to pick my ass up that early do people group ride back to DS? Any festivities planned for post race? How official is the registration? 500-1000 people in an hour sounds like a cluster fuck.

Posted By: derekSo the guy that took a year to even show up at any local fixie events starts all of a sudden "sponsoring" bike races and calls the LA marathon race aFIXED GEARrace without seriously knowing what it is or who the wolfpack guys are? I smell a marketing ploy that should have started from the get go.

WTF do you mean by 'marketing ploy'?

Again, you are going to sit behind your computer and try to personally attack me. At least I was the one who brought this up on AZ Fixed. Maybe others weren't aware of the event? Maybe, I thought others would enjoy the event. I HAVE NO PERSONAL STAKE IN THE SUCCESS of the WOLFPACK HUSTLE, I just thought it was a cool event and wanted to see if anyone wanted to participate. It is the LA MARATHON ROUTE, but it is not put on by the same people as the LA Marathon. It's a "CRASH RACE" - from: http://www.wolfpackhustle.com/viewStory.php?storyId=592 "The Los Angeles Marathon is mapped out and closed off the night before giving riders the chance to race 26.1 miles of Los Angeles with no traffic. "

I am not confusing the LA MARATHON and a FIXED GEAR RACE.Seriously though, how do Q-Rings work without a derailleur?

I'm fully aware of what the event is, yet you're confusing this for a fixed gear race. The "wolfpack hustle" and this race have never been fixed gear only, just aimed at cyclists that enjoy taking the streets over. Do you see the distinction? I'm on my computer, but I'm lost on where you think I've personally attacked you.

What I have said and will continue to be confused about is how you guys are somehow considered a local bike company because you import partially complete bikes to Tempe. Bikes that are essentially 98% the same thing as the Tomcat bikes sold on eBay, yet over $100 more. Further, State's presence in the local bike scene has been nil besides a few contests to help your marketing scheme up until you guys decided to start sponsoring a local crit and a few roadies. Take that for what it's worth, like it or not.

There IS a fixed gear component to the race that will award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, place prizes. That is what I am interested in (and of course it is fully relevant to AZ FIXED). You are arguing with me over semantics. You haven't ridden our bikes, don't know what went into the development, so you can't comment on them, but anyone who has can tell you they are head and shoulders better than Tomcat or anything else in our relative price point. WE FULLY STAND BEHIND THEM. We are a relatively new company and did need to get a little bit of a start before we started giving away product and sponsoring events. Now that we are up and running we are here to stay and will continue to support those who have been supportive of us. From day 1 we have not done anything to DETRACT from cycling fixed or otherwise in AZ. We have not bad mouthed any bike shops local or otherwise. There is no point for all of the negativity! And despite it all, we are STILL INTERESTED in being involved.Seriously though, how do Q-Rings work without a derailleur?

This whole State bike bagging is starting to get ridiculous. Sure they didn't come and give our community all the support they could, but thats because they were just getting started.. Not only that, but maybe they didn't even know better. I felt the same way many did about State at first because I have seen it happen in the skateboard industry, but as soon as we told them they need to help out our community THEY DID. Not only did they sponsored several events, they have decided to encourage new rides, post races that are out of state, and even SPONSOR riders! Thats a pretty cool decent company to me. Do you see BikesDirect helping out our community? I know a few of you have Kilo TTs, what has their company done for US? Above all else, State doesn't have to be on Azfixed at all. I don't even think a single person on here has a State bike, nor does anyone want one since most of us are riding on a higher level of bikes; State even understands this. So why the hate still? They're obviously TRYING to help out our community now and you guys are still shelling them. I know 99% of the people talking shit about this company haven't even MET the owner before and they probably haven't even rode a State bike before.

This is my .02, but you guys need to chill because they're obviously doing more for our community than most right now. I haven't singed any kind of agreement with State yet so don't think I have money in my pockets or something, I just feel like they will be able to make a difference in this community, and I am stoked that someone wants to do it.

Not everyone is like J Mex and rides all the ugly chicks at least once before he finds one to bone on the reg. When someone asks for my opinion on a cheap bike, I tell them what I think of the ones my friends have all had good experiences with that aren't $400+. Besides, State has yet to prove that they didn't just move from the furniture biz to the cool new trend of selling matchy fixies with random retarded names to kids that don't know better.

I was at one point one of the primary critics of State bicycle on here, and a number of snide remarks have come from these tappin fingers aimed at state bicycle. In all honesty, jumping on board with supporting local events has gone a long way toward winning me over. Are they the greatest bikes in the world, no. Have I tried one out, yes- bhard, jim jones, and a few of us went to the warehouse shortly after the design competition was announced. That said, State Bicycles isn't producing racing bikes, and dont profess to. They are producing a decent bike for cruising around, at a decent price. Would I buy one- no, but i think theyre headed in the right direction and at least making an effort.sorry kdub. this better?

Burbs, to piggyback on that, we were very nice to all of you guys, B-Hard has been cool throughout, you have mocked us, Bergdoll has too, but we have turned the other cheek because we know we need to take our lumps before we EARN respect. That being said we have come A LONG way in the year since you rolled by and we expect to get better in 2011. I am posting all of this on behalf of myself and not State Bicycle Co. because I personally want to be engaged in the fixed gear community in AZ, and would like our company to be too! THERE ARE A LOT OF STATE BICYCLES on campus, please stop someone and ask them how they like it. I GUARANTEE they LOVE their bike. The cynics will call those people are idiots, or newbs, or say they know nothing about bicycles, but that ISN'T the case. MOST of our customers have done their homework. They are aware of Big Shot, Republic, Toto, Mercier, any other brand in our price point, but they chose to go with us and they are happy! We do A LOT for all 4000+ Fans on our Facebook page too, not just in AZ. Our products DO PREFORM and if you don't believe it please come to the SUNDEVIL crit on Sunday or better yet, enter it.

^ that being said, I was not the one to get this off topic, and would love to turn it back to the wolfpack hustle.Seriously though, how do Q-Rings work without a derailleur?
