Rode the trail today. That first climb fucking suuuucks! Overall the ride was alright, about 10 of the 15 miles were on service roads or neighborhood streets. Last section was super rocky and logs were all through the trail. Overall it's a good ride to keep you out of the heat in the valley, bother than that I'd rather just hit up McDowell

That's where I ride most often, usually just take the canal from my house. There are a ton of side trails and little off shoots you can just take that are better than t100 itself and you can make a different loop or ride everytime you go and once you get your bearings it's almost impossible to get lost. I sometimes ride in pmp with a guy that has been riding in there for over 20 years, and he shows me a different route or loop everytime, it keeps it fun - hit me up if you want to go.

Do you all think an extra 5 mm in crank length would lead to a huge increase in pedal strikes?

Got a new crankset for my 26" HT and it seems like I get pedal strike on about twice as many rocks, roots and other shit. The cranks are 175mm and I'm thinking the old ones wer 170s, but I'm not positive. 5mm seems like such a small difference...

Ryan is a massive jock who loves whey protein and being hungover, but he's right. If you're having pedal strike issues with 5mm more crank, this may be a technique issue more than an equipment issue.

I've only ridden twice with the new crankset. The first time wasn't too bad, but today I was hitting every thing that was sticking up. It certainly could be a technique issue, but it doesn't seem like less than a quarter inch would make such a big difference. Maybe today was just an off day.

    EDIT: Thanks for the input.

The GIANT downhill/slalom/freestyle hill that edges close to the top of curry. You have to make 2 90 degree right turns which usually require a whipskid of sort.

I have had shit luck with any mountain bike hubs. On the road bike, skimp on hubs. On the mountain bike, if you don't have I9 or Chris King you might as well be riding one of Ryan's bikes. But then again, I'm a wattage cottage, or a cottage cheese or whatever the expression is.

Whats the deal with carbon rims.

I'm out truing my wheels waaaay too much. Idk if it's my size or what but I have def got a better grip on taking the right lines and my wheels are getting toasted. I have some pretty decent wheels but I think carbon might be tougher.
  7.
Carbon mountain bike wheels are not for the faint of heart. What wheels are you riding now? Maybe the wheel just isn't top shelf build. I had a pair of Mavic hoops I had built for my single speed and those fuckers are as straight as an arrow. My Stan's rims on the other hand have been as crooked as a politician once a month.SKFrames ...what i do with my free time
