Never knew Strava hosted "virtual amateur online races"

Never knew that only in the "TDF" someone is crowned KOM on a specific stage

@1:40 this asian attorney says "they don't assume responsibility, they don't put cones out, they don't have anybody monitor a specific segment to see if it's dangerous" LOL

These are the exact hills I've been riding for a week or two now. Really amazing rides. I can't imagine doing 40+ on some of the congested areas though.

I am going to start a new web ap called Shitrava. Basically it works like this. first you turn on your gps enabled phone ap before you enter a public bathroom. Then you hit the record button and the ap will record duration, heartrates, power output, etc. during your bowel movement. Lastly you will be able to photograph your turds and upload them to share and compare with your friends. KOMS will be issued for those who post the largest heart rates and power outputs in the shortest times. So cold in the T.

That's the estimated category gradient of the incline, or your placing. Its complete bullshit because climb category depends on length plus distance and there are few climbs that are long/steep enough to qualify. SOMO might be a 4 or 5.

SOMO is a two or three depending on which segment you are looking at (there are about four different segments that are more or less the same thing...retarded). Also I did ATM (haha) and there were cat 4 climbs on what I would say were 1% graded roads...also retarded. So cold in the T.

    Strava makes them up.

Grades were originally set depending on what gear an old Peugot needed to be in to get over a mountain. Now its gradient, length, and where it comes in a race which is why SoMo is not a 3. The descent/rollers in the middle are a mile of interruption in the vertical rise and its not that steep so it'd be unlikely to get a real life rating of that difficulty. Most Alps that are a 3 are typically either 7% average and/or 8 miles long.

Its a completely irrelevant number and Strava just gives them to random things. It claims that a local hill around here is a cat 1, but the thing is barely more than a 1/2 mile long. It also incorrectly estimates VAM, power, etc., but they're supposedly working that out.

Trying to determine if there is some sort of setting I can do for riding a fixed gear. As far as I can work out the options are road, mtb or tt bike. Does anyone know if there is a 'fixed' setup? Or whether or not I can specify my gear ratio? I emailed them a couple of days ago but no dice so far.

^nope... but you can put the name of your bike in the bike drop down edit and put the gearing in your title of the ride like "PISS 48 X 15"

The best part about using an SRM computer is not being tempted to do the dumbass strava shit people are doing these days by posting times from segments with leadouts, from group rides where they're towed along, etc. Kinda fun at first, but people take it way too seriously too fast. For a while I guess people out here were Strava stalking people's times and power numbers to determine who to mark in races.
