OK so I've had a few drinks and I've been thinkin, which can be a bad thing, but here is my idea:

meet up at 4am at az mills mall parking lot by the old krispy kreme on a saturday, caravan down to tucson and meet up at the safeway at the base of catalina highway (which goes to the top of mt. lemmon) at approximately 5:30-6:00 AM. We'll keep a big cooler with shitloads of refreshing drinks and some support tools in my honda element and we'll split support car duties between cyclists. In other words I'll drive for a quarter of the way (15 miles) then pull over and the pack can water up and someone else can drive my car through the next 1/4 leg of the journey and then someone else drives for a quarter and so on.

I'm not sure how were going to shower up afterwards but i don't mind carrying a bunch of stinky dudes back to PHX. We need to have cars that can take alot of bikes or alot of people. I can fit four passengers or four bikes tops. I don't have a bike rack.

I'd only want to do this trip if we had four guys and two cars (including mine) minimum and everyone would have to chip in. ass gas or grass bitches and I'm not gay and I don't smoke weed. Road bikes suggested but if we have a support vehicle we can transport all tools needed for fixed riding and switching out gears and wheels and what have you, plus you would get mad props if you did it fixed (with brakes downhill).

Seriously this ride is fucking awesome! you can expect 5-8% grades for 25+ miles to the top. There is an overpriced cafe at the top but if we have a support vehicle we can bring our own food. There is no water between the top and the bottom. You will ride all the way from Sonoran Desert to Alpine Forrest. Elevation gain is approximately 6,000 ft (5,280 ft. in 1 mile). Bike lane all the way to the top and the route is relatively cyclist friendly. Be prepared to spend six hours in the saddle.

Do not show up of you are not prepared for a day of suffering or if your legs are not relatively fresh...This is serious climbing and it will hurt and you will question what the hell you were thinking when you thought this was a good idea.So cold in the T.

I'm gonna have to do it roadie unless I can find someone who will lend be a big ass rear 23 tooth cog and I am currently waiting on a new rear wheel because my lockring is stripping out slowly but surely and there is no way I'm going to knowingly risk a mechanical failure on that route. So cold in the T.

it can be done but you have to change out to a free wheel or switch out three times from a climbing gear (42-23) to a mid range for the ridges at the top (42-14) to a seriously big gear like 53-11 for the down hill and you would have to use brakes. So cold in the T.

Jesus Christ, clarence, get your shit straight :)The Tour De Scottsdale is on Sunday, the 5th, and Saturday the 18th is the benefit for Sara. I can drive my truck which can carry one other person (two if you want to be uncomfortable and a little gay----Jesse or Jak), and 4 or 5 bikes (two in the bed and two or three on my rack). Oh and I've got some walkie talkies with just like a two mile range, but they work great in that range.Help Phoenix Children's Hospital!!

OK Saturday the 25th or Sunday the 26th of October. Awesome you can transport five bikes and we have six riders. If you take one rider in your cab then we can transport all equipment, four riders (including myself), a bike (wheels off) and the cooler in my element. If anyone else wants to go beyond NJS mike (who has not commited yet) we might have to get another vehicle or another bike rack to fit on the element.

Oh yeah and walkie talkies!!! we have to make up handles for each other. So cold in the T.
